Happy Hanukkah

I stitched this piece for a Jewish co-worker in 2007. Unfortunately I don't remember who the designer is but this piece was a big hit. It was a quick stitch & the young guy who received it was very touched. Allon's family is not into the holidays. He told me & our boss that he really would not be getting anything to unwrap, no special dinner or get together. The holiday season means an extra day off and nothing more. Of course he told me this on the Friday before Christmas last year. We get along fine but we are not close or exceptionally friendly. Every year I try to make sure I give a special gift to someone who totally is not expecting anything. It is not a planned thing but for whatever reason I usually get some kind of sign that tells me who the person is. Now notice would be nice but that doesn't always happen.

As fortune would have it another friend was looking for Hebrew designs to stitch. I had asked the ladies at my stitching group if they knew of any designers. Someone brought me a old booklet for my friend which I was going to be passing along. So like any good cross stitching addict I got busy that weekend. I found this frame & it came together nicely. I picked up a group card for all of his co-workers to sign & no one had any idea that my gift was hand made. I thought this was great. My boss kept on insisting he needed to give me a few bucks for this expensive gift so I finally confessed I made it. Still he didn't believe me but I also had a Christmas stocking I did in a gift bag for someone else. His jaw dropped. It is so cool when no one believes that you actually made something. So on this 1st day of Hanukkah I wish you all Peace!

This year I just found out who & what I need to whip up. I am off to find supplies to get that done. I will need to mail the item so I doubt she'll get it for Christmas but Hanukkah is 10 days long. I am calling it a Hanukkah gift. Whatever holiday works best sounds good to me.

So for you time pressed elf stitchers, Kwanzaa is 12/26 & Three Kings day (Epiphany) is Jan 6th.

I had a nice time at my Metrostitcher party yesterday! Great group of ladies.

It is a lovely pattern. I think it is by Stan Taylor. If I hunt around I can probably find the website for you.

Previous comment deleted because it had way too many typos. :) My fingers are still cold and not enough coffee this morning. :)
Anyway, what I said was:
What a wonderful gift! I like the colors you used too.
