Buzzed by the Presidents plane

The building I work in is on the Hudson NJ side opposite down town NYC. This is a photo of the plane as it just buzzed past by my office window. I am on one of the upper floors as was sipping coffee watching along with most of my co-workers and wondering what the heck was going on. When this huge jet along with the fighter plane turned in the direction of the building we are in. It headed right at us so coffee cups were dropped as people dropped to the floor. One woman got knocked down as others rushed to walk down 20 odd flights of stairs. All the buildings around us were being cleared out as the grounds outside filled up. It scared the daylights out of all the people in our building. The man that sits behind me was one of the lucky ones who climbed out of the trade center rubble to walk home. The guy next to him has a sister who spent the better part of 2 years in and out of hospitals trying to get on with her life. Most of the people I know and have worked with all were all directly effected by 9-11. So everyone took this stupid event to heart. It is not fun.

That Wednesday we went to another wake, 62 is far too early to end a life but Maria had many health issues and died peacefully in her sleep. So although it was sudden it was not totally a shocking event.

Thursday & Friday were rounded out by learning that the swine flu is a lot closer than I thought. Cleaning crews have been all over the office all week because we had two employees whose kids attended events at the NY school. Another lady whose son just flew in a few days before the break out who is sick and another couple of people with the flu were sent home. I am fine mainly because I am very fond of washing my hands and using common sense. So there never seems to be a dull moment. There were a few more people laid off and others have been asked to work weekends. So the stress factor at the job remains unbelievably high and tempers are short but life goes on. Stitching is a wonderful stress relief but I keep hoping for a winning lottery ticket....
